Born on 1 April 1958, Vardenis, Gegharkunik marz.

1980 - Department of Mechanics and Mathematics, Yerevan State University. Received a qualification of a mechanic. Department of Social Professions.

1980-1982 – Еngineer, Aknalich unit of the Anti-hail Military Service of the Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic.

1982-1983 - Senior engineer, "Dvin" detachment.

1983-1984 – Commander, Military detachment in Kalinino.

1984-1987 – Commander, "Southern" and "Ararat" military units.

1987-1990 – Commander, ''Tumanyan'' military detachment.

1990-1993 - Head of the Refugee Resettlement Department, RA State Committee for special economic programs.

1992-1993 – Representative of the Government to Hrazdan city and region on the issues of refugees from the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.

1993-1994 - General Manager, "Asparez" LLC.

1994-2003 – Military service in the RA Armed Forces.

1994-1996 - Officer of the control group, Department for External Economic Relations, RA Ministry of Defense. Senior officer, Control Inspection Group of the RA Deputy Minister of Defence.

1996- 2003 - Senior officer, Audit Commission of the RA Ministry of Defense.
By the decree of the Minister of Defense was missioned to the German Democratic Republic /Garmisch-Partenkirchen/ to participate in the course "Leaders of the 21^st century” at George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies. Completed the “Program in Advanced Security Studies” at the College of International and Security Studies.

Holds the rank of lieutenant colonel. Took part in the defensive battles on the borders of the Republic of Armenia and Artsakh.

Awarded with the Medal for Combat Service, ‘’Garegin Nzhdeh’’ Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Commemorative Medal of the RA Prime Minister, Letter of Appreciation of the RA Prime Minister, Medal of George C. Marshall European Center, “Marshal Baghramyan” Medal, Letter of gratitude by the RA Minister of Defense.

Was a member of the underground United National Party.

Since 2003 - member of the Republican Party of Armenia.

December 17, 2005 (9th RPA Congress), July 22, 2006 (10th RPA Congress) –elected a member of RPA Council, Chairman of the Organizing Committee.

November 10, 2007 (11th RPA Congress) – elected a member of RPA Council, member of the Executive Body, Chairman of the Organizing Committee.

November 28, 2009 (12th RPA Congress) - re-elected a member of RPA Executive Body, Chairman of the Organizing Committee.

March 10, 2012 (13th RPA Congress) – re-elected a member of RPA Executive Body, Chairman of the Organizing Committee.

May 24, 2014 (15th RPA Congress) - re-elected a member of RPA Executive Body, Chairman of the Organizing Committee.

Married, with two children.
